The first 10 amendments to Constitution.
1st - freedom of speech, religion, assembly, petition the gov't, and press
2nd - right to bear arms. Smaller population without an established militia. It was not a safe environment - fear of Native Americans, frontier culture, lawlessness.
4th - illegal search and seizure.
